Attention Students!!!

The NVC Student Advocacy & Resource Center will be closed for Winter Break beginning at noon on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024. Operations will be fully closed during the break. We will resume operations beginning Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.

If you need support during the Winter Break, please consider the following resources:

  • Additional Community Resources
    • If needed, you can also find additional community resources by viewing our NVC Community Resource Guide. You can also contact the United Way Hotline by dialing 211.
  • TimelyCare
    • The Alamo Colleges District is now partnered with TimelyCare to deliver a new virtual health and well-being platform for students. Through either a mobile app or your desktop, TimelyCare provides 24/7 access to virtual care from anywhere in the United States at no cost. This service is FREE! Whether you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, you can talk to a licensed provider to get the care you need via phone or secure video visits. To get started, visit timelycare.com/alamo or download the TimelyCare app from your app store. Enter your student email, and you'll be redirected to ACES to login. Students can reach out to the 24/7 Support Team through the app or by calling 833-4-TIMELY. Students can also go to timelycare.com/alamo from their computer and schedule the appointment that way as well.

Northwest Vista College recognizes that students struggling economically or with mental health issues may find college overwhelming at times. We know that stress can impact academic performance. Any student experiencing challenges is encouraged to reach out to the NVC Student Advocacy and Resource Center.  The Advocacy Center provides emergency student aid, help with essential needs, and individual and group mental health counseling at no cost to students.

24-hour emergency help is also available through the National Suicide & Crisis Hotline (Dial 988) or visit http://988lifeline.org/ 

24/7 Crisis Textline is also available by texting "HOME" to 741741.

Special Training Opportunity!

NVC Student Advocacy and Resource Center is proud to offer the ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) program.
 
Please keep an eye on our website for announcements and for information on the next available training!
 
LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. 
 
Please secure supervisor approval where appropriate. Seats are limited. If you have questions about what to expect or if you have a large group you would like to schedule, reach out to Lisa Black at lblack13@poscoop.com.
